Tropical Storm Idalia Update

Tropical Storm Idaliais currently expected to hit Florida as a Category 1 Hurricane on Wednesday, making landfall between Pensacola and Tampa Bay on Wednesday, August 30th. The effects of the storm are expected to start being felt Tuesday. Solar Sanitation is monitoring the storm.

At this time will be open and running on schedule Monday, 08/28/23, and Tuesday, 08/29/23. For the safety of our workers we will not be collecting waste or recycling on WEDNESDAY, 08/30/23 . Trash will be collected on your next regularly scheduled pick up day. Wednesday Recycling collection will resume next Wednesday, September 6th. We will keep you updated as we make any changes to our schedule and hours of operation. So as you prepare, know tha t Solar Sanitation will do everything we can to help local residents recover after the storm.

You can prepare for the storm:

·        securing solid waste materials & placing them in a location away from high winds. This includes garbage or recycling containers, as well as uncollected garbage, recycling, yard waste or bulk waste.

·        Do not cut down trees or do any major yard work.

After the storm has passed

·        Securely bag all household garbage in plastic bags, place in your garbage cart and place at the curb on your scheduled collection day.  Please be patient!

Post-Storm Clean Up Information:

Solar Sanitation WILL NOT be collecting any storm debris on the first pick-up after the storm.

We will be collecting limited amounts of storm debris with each pick up after the first as our priority and focus will need to be on collecting the regular household trash.

·        Do not place debris near or on a fence, mailbox, power line equipment, fire hydrants, poles, transformers, downed wires, water meters, or storm drains.
